The short film that Matthew Hammond and I made in collaboration while self-isolating can now be seen as part of Strangelove Time-based Media Festival. Our film – and many other great pieces – can be watched in Screen 1 on Strangelove’s website, curated by Chris Meigh-Andrews.. “457 dyadic and triadic” is the combination of my visual experiments with paint and liquids and Matthew’s improvised music piece, which we hope you enjoy. You can also leave comments on the festival’s website and even show us your love for the film by tapping or clicking that heart below the video 💙

A collaborative film created from their shared home while self isolating, the film experiments with paint, liquids and different densities to generate haphazardly moving abstractions. The moving images were recorded by Cristina Pedreira after Matthew Hammond’s music piece. 457 dyadic and triadic is an improvised piece using a self-designed scale based on a just intonation tuning system. Just intonation tuning uses musical intervals that are wholly based on the natural harmonic series, and using scales based on them allows access to intervals and sound colours that don’t exist in the standard equally-tempered Western tuning system.

July is the month to celebrate 31 days of German Riesling, and I did my bit by bringing to life the flavours of Riesling. Photographs taken at my home studio for Wines of Germany UK and masterminded by Phipps PR.
Stop motion animation has been part of my creative process for more than ten years. On this project I use my photographs as a starting point, I set it all up, start without a plan and pack it all up on the same day, which means each animation is started and finished within several hours. As a photographer and videographer with a background in painting and drawing I have always been interested in the boundaries of each medium and the different possibilities when combined.
You can watch four of my hand painted animations below and a short video tutorial showing the process behind the animations.
This project is a collaboration with the musician Matthew Hammond, whose music is featured in all the videos.

It was a pleasure to document Daisy, Ewan and Florence playing some of the games featured in the book. Just published (February 2020), about half of the photographs in the book are by me and the other half by Daisy herself. Below are some of my favourites.

At the Fine Wine Encounter I also produced separate video pieces focusing on the masterclasses and the discovery theatre. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to document the Bibi Fund Gala, an event to fund innovative research with a focus on the rarest and deadliest childhood cancers. During the evening £1M for childhood cancer research were raised. Anyone interested in donating can do so via their website
The Bibi Fund Gala took place in Banqueting House, a beautiful venue in Whitehall with a ceiling painted by Rubens and commissioned by Charles I. The space is also open to the public and can be visited as part of the Historic Royal Palaces. That same space features on the Electric Light Orchestra’s first album, designed by Storm Thorgerson.
A recent project I photographed for CJCT in South West London. The re-development incorporates a locally listed retained façade from the 1920’s which I loved.
All photos were shot and edited by me. More information about the project on CJCT’s website
An exclusive and intimate London event to present the new wines by Bemberg Estate Wines. Here a selection of photos from that evening.
I went to the Purple Weekend 2012 with a Holga to document some of what was going on there. This photo is from that series, taken on 120 mm film with the inexpensive plastic camera. For those who may not know, the festival was born as a mod/sixties weekender in the Spanish city of León and it has become something much bigger with the years.
The photo can be seen as part of the exhibitions programme of the Purple Weekend, quadruplicated and manipulated in a collaborative project with Eva López Campesino. “Purplephenia (I’ve had enough)” is now open at the Ateneo Cultural el Albéitar until 20th December.
My first time attending the festival was the year 2000 and though this time I won’t be able to attend I feel very happy my image will be there.
This summer I started filming from the air with my new DJI Mavic Air. Flying mainly over swimming pools and fields I decided to take the drone to Valbuena de la Encomienda, my great-grandmother’s village in the province of León, Spain. It is a very small village but is surrounded by a beautiful landscape and the perfect place to fly with freedom. This short video was recorded during two incredibly hot afternoons in August.
Shot of Valbuena de la Encomienda taken with the DJI Mavic Air on a summer evening.
Last May I was at The Vinyl Factory to document of the GForce Tasting event. The Wines of Germany trade and consumer tastings are a celebration of the German wine industry. Both were captured with photography and video and here you can watch a selection of images from the day.
Looking back at a busy springtime. Here a selection of images from Rioja’s rebranding event at the beautiful Rumpus Room in The Mondrian Hotel. The artist Carlos Corres has created a series of work with different types of wine as his main medium and you can also see him in the video further down. Both photography and video were used to document the evening. Salud!
The Cognac Experience, an event hosted by Phipps on behalf of the BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac) at East London’s TT Liquor. A food pairing masterclass, a mixology masterclass and over 71 different types of Cognacs to taste.
I was asked to document the event, both with photography and video to capture the mood and the atmosphere during the day. Here a selection of images from the day and the highlights video 📸🎬

Shot in Fuji 400H and Cinestill 800T at Café Pruckel, during a long afternoon and a quick evening visit.
I recently had the chance to photograph The Nectar Bar and see first hand the process of this South Manchester grower. An incredible working space full of plants, life and creativity. The Nectar Bar’s moto is also great, “Cocktails for Bees. Blooms for You. Growing flowers for pollinators. Selling the surplus to humans. “
If you want a beautiful Christmas wreath or later on in the springtime need some fresh flowers, be one of those humans.

The summer and the festival season have been good to Ostras!
I was asked to document the Rioja Bar and its Summer Sessions in a couple of great festivals, Citadel Festival in London and Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire.
Photography and video were both used to capture masterclasses by Rob Buckhaven and Jane Parkinson, delicious jamón ibérico by Bar Tozino and a wide range of red, white and rosé all the way from Rioja. Below you can see some of my favourite stills and soon I will be sharing the videos I made.

Some sources of inspiration: Hugo Ball, Sonia Delaunay, Varvara Stepanova, Kiki de Montparnasse, Elizabethan ruffles and the joy of dressing up to replace our every day mask with another persona.

Lanzarote and the Canary Islands as a whole owe a lot to César Manrique. The artist always fought for sustainable growth and tourism, taking the islands’ tradition and culture as a constant reference.
James del Agua is one of his contributions as an architect, a cave with a concert venue and a restaurant, surrounded by autochthonous plants and the sea.
The House-Museum of the peasant farmer (Casa Museo del Campesino) was also designed by César Manrique. Bright white walls and hints of green, it follows the traditional architecture of the region.
